Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Saturday lost his polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party during Saturday’s governorship poll. Ajimobi, had on February 23, lost the Oyo South senatorial election to the PDP candidate, Dr Kola Balogun
According to The Punch: Ajimobi’s All Progressives Congress polled 112 to the PDP’s 145. Curiously too, a serving Senator, Soji Akanbi, who lost two weeks ago under the platform of the African Democratic Congress and had reportedly went back to the APC, also lost same unit alongside the governor.
In Ibadan North Local Government, a former Governor and leader of the coalition against the APC, Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja, won his unit for the PDP. The result showed that the PDP garnered 180 votes to the APC’s 34, in Unit 13 of the Ibadan North Local Government.
Similarly, Chief Sharafadeen Alli, who was the governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, but stepped down for Seyi Makinde of the PDP, delivered his polling unit.
In Alli’s family house, Biro compound, Oke Aremo, Ward 3, Unit 022, the PDP got 126 to the APC’s 32, in Ibadan North Local Government.
Another governorship candidate, who equally stepped down for Makinde, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, also won the polling for the PDP. In Ibadan North-West, Ward 8, Unit 2, the PDP polled 136 to the APC’s 68.
Also Makinde won his polling Unit 001, Ward 11 of Ibadan North-East Local Government, the PDP scored 165 to the APC’s 71.
